Sue Hawkins has been practising yoga for over 24 years and teaching for 9. She is the founder of Byron Bay Yoga and holds yoga and meditation retreats in Byron Bay and internationally throughout the year. She has experience in Ashtanga and Iyengar style yoga and her teaching style is a combination of vinyasa flow and focus on alignment using props Her experience and intuition will show you ways to deepen your practice and develop more confidence and strength in a engaging and supportive environment.
SCHEDULE You will need to arrive on Tuesday afternoon from 2pm, Tues 5th September to settle into your accommodation. We will meet around 4pm for a brief introduction and then dinner. The first yoga class is on Wednesday morning. The retreat finishes Friday 8th September at 2.30pm. The program begins with meditation and vinyasa yoga to open and strengthen the body, integrating some core strength postures and working with the breath. The afternoons are directed towards a restorative and relaxtation practice with pranayama and yoga nidra.There are experienced assistants to help and assist with your adjustments and modifcations are given to beginners or participants with special needs. In the free time periods why not enjoy the natural surrounds of the resort wandering along the boardwalks through the rainforest to the beach, luxuriate in the state of the art day spa or simply laze by the pool and have a sauna! All equipment is supplied but if you prefer your own mat then bring it with you. The retreats attracts a wide range of participants from total beginners to more experienced students.
FOOD The resort food does have an asian influence but we can cater to all dietary requirements. If you are not eaing carbohydrates or have allergic reactions to some foods, please advise us in advance so we can arrange alternative meals for you.
ACCOMMODATION Single or Twin share accommodation in 5 star luxurious one bedroom apartments, including King bed (or twin beds), full size bath, plasma TV high speed internet, washer, dryer, safe, telephone, hairdryer, galley kitchen,dishwasher, fridge.
DAY SPA The Byron at Byron Day Spa offers a true oasis where one can rest and revitalise. Treatments include facials, water therapies, body wraps, Hot Stone Massage, therapeutic and rejuvenating massages, aromatherapy, hand and nail treatments.
GETTING THERE You will need to book your flight to either Ballina/Byron or Coolangatta airport. Airport shuttles will take you directly to the Byron at Byron resort, but bookings are recommended.
PRICE INCLUDES: 4 nights accommodation, all breakfasts, lunches and dinners, all yoga activies. Day spa treatments are optional extras and will require 24hrs cancellation notice. We advise you book ahead for your treatments.
TWIN SHARE $1250 SINGLE $1495
Cancellation Conditions A deposit of $300 is required to secure your place. This deposit will form part of your final payment which is payable one month before.
A cancellation fee of $200 will apply if booking is cancelled 2 weeks before retreat begins. Retreats can be swapped at the discretion of Byron Bay Yoga.
